Our Team
Melanie Courtney - Senior Designer
Melanie is a multi-disciplined interior design professional with over 20 years of experience in the design industry. Her diverse background has allowed her to gain a unique perspective and approach to all her projects. Melanie’s career began in Commercial Design in San Francisco where she managed all the interior design needs for Fortune 500 high-end clientele accounts. Melanie's main design objective for each office space was to create unique and progressive interiors while still maintaining the strict branding requirements of larger commercial clients. Her success as a commercial designer stems from her belief that every space should tell a story that reflects the exclusive vision or personality of the client.
Melanie’s desire to become a multi-disciplined designer led her next to Carmel where she was able to unleash her creative ability and increase her technical aptitude working alongside award-winning architects for a highly regarded commercial and residential architectural firm known for their sustainable approach, their quest to press the bar on all design concepts, with an end result that was understated, natural, and cohesive with the surrounding landscape. Most of her projects were new construction along the coasts of Big Sur, therefore exposing her to the highest level of discipline, learning from the Principals that every design should again, tell a story, show innovation, and seamless composition. As lead interior designer and in collaboration with the firm's Principals, her work has been showcased in several trade magazine, such as Dwell, California Homes, Robb Report, and Architectural Digest.
Melanie applies her vast design experience at Kimberley Harrison Interiors while partnering with clients to translate their vision into inspired, cohesive, beautiful spaces that encompass the essence of their personality, lifestyle or brand. With an eye for quality, an intuitive sense of style, and a client-centered approach to business, her goal is to design timeless and cohesive interiors that will have a positive impact on her client’s lives. Melanie's motto - The best way to predict the future is to create it.
